Church Partnership

Mobilize Your Church Community

When you partner with CFK, your church can live out their faith by transforming the lives of youth in foster care.

As a faith fueled organization, CFK firmly believes the church is uniquely positioned to make the biggest impact on behalf of child welfare. CFK works as a bridge between the foster care system and the Church by empowering congregations to become champions for youth in foster care. By joining our mission, your church can expand your vision and ministry work, equipping your community to be champions for foster care.

Additional Opportunities

We are eager to walk alongside you as you explore partnership with CFK, and recommend an initial in-person or virtual meeting to begin the conversation. However, in an effort to cast vision, we’ve included several examples of possible partnership opportunities below.

Join us for “We See You”.

WHAT: We See You is an opportunity for your church to extravagantly love on foster parents, social workers, and other child welfare advocates. It is a fun, celebratory event we host every December, bringing churches from all over the city together under one roof to celebrate this population well.

Wrap around foster parents in your community.

WHAT: CFK is helping to mobilize established communities at churches to wrap around foster families in the community. If you are interested in starting or enhancing a wraparound community or ministry within your organization, we would love to walk alongside you and provide wraparound training and ministry consultation for your group.

Wraparound support can take many different forms. Our training helps to explain these forms of wraparound care at a more detailed level as well as help give a picture of the types of things foster families encounter and give you a chance to get your questions answered.

Help stabilize families in need.

OUR CARENOW PROGRAM EXISTS TO HELP STABILIZE YOUTH AND FAMILIES IN THE CHILD WELFARE SYSTEM BY MEETING IMMEDIATE, TANGIBLE, ONE-TIME NEEDS. BELOW ARE A FEW WAYS TO HELP MEET NEEDS THROUGH CARENOW ON A CORPORATE LEVEL.

WHAT: Does your organization have access to some of our most requested CAREnow items (Carseats, clothing, shoes, diapers and baby supplies, beds and mattresses)? We are looking to partner with organizations within our community who are able to provide gift-in-kind donations for new items to help fill CAREnow requests.

HOW: CLICK HERE to contact our CAREnow coordinator.

COMMITMENT LEVEL: LOW to MEDIUM

WHAT: Host a group serve or “Champion Drive” event to collect gift-in-kind donations for our most needed CAREnow requests.

Our CAREnow program exists to help stabilize youth and families in the child welfare system by meeting immediate, tangible, one-time needs. By hosting a diaper, car seat, school uniform, coat, or shoe drive you can help meet some of our most frequent needs.

HOW: Contact our CAREnow coordinator to receive a “Champion Drive” how-to packet with everything you need to host your event. CLICK HERE to contact our team.

COMMITMENT LEVEL: MEDIUM

Engage volunteers.

WHAT: CFK has many different one-off volunteer opportunities throughout the year. This could look like stuffing gift bags, wrapping gifts for youth in care, serving at a lunch for social workers, taking youth on a field trip, or renovating visitation rooms at DSS.

HOW: Encourage those in your congregation or church community to sign-up to become a general volunteer by clicking HERE. (Background check required for child-facing opportunities) Or contact us about one-off group serve events.

COMMITMENT LEVEL: LOW to MED (varies)

Be a champion for our Socialight & CARENOW programs.

WHAT: We love to see church small groups, or members of a church family, “adopt” a social worker as part of our Socialight program. This program is designed to match individuals, families, or groups in our community to child welfare social workers in our city for the purposes of providing encouragement and support.

Our CAREnow portal helps to meet immediate, tangible needs for youth and families in the foster care system, or those who have recently aged-out. Rallying around this program and advertising the serve opportunity is an easy way to serve “virtually” for your congregation.

Host or sponsor a Mentor Match event.

MORE OFTEN THAN NOT, KIDS IN CARE HAVE LITTLE TO NO SAY IN WHAT HAPPENS TO THEM. WE WANTED OUR MENTORING PROGRAMS TO BE DIFFERENT. YOUTH IN OUR PROGRAM MAKE ORGANIC CONNECTIONS WITH MENTORS AT MENTOR CONNECT EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE CITY AND GET TO BE IN THE DRIVER’S SEAT WHEN SELETING THEIR MENTOR.

WHAT: Mentor connect events are held monthly at comfortable locations throughout the city and offer youth in care fun or unique experiences through which they can naturally and organically connect with potential mentors. We are always looking for organizations to host or sponsor these events. Learn more about our mentoring programs and see some of our past events.

HOW: CLICK HERE to contact our mentoring programs coordinator.

FINANCIAL COMMITMENT: Varies depending on event space and activity, $400 - $2500+
