VOLUNTEERING

CFK has general volunteer opportunities throughout the year that may include event support, administrative tasks, consultation, and more. Our volunteer needs fluctuate throughout the year so check back often if you do not see a good fit today!

CFK utilizes POINT to manage volunteer opportunities. Join POINT and then connect with Congregations for Kids (CFK). Once you’re in our network you can receive notifications for new opportunities as soon as they arise.

Already a POINT member? Check out our current volunteer opportunities.

I loved seeing all the teens of many ages and from all over the state really connecting with some of the presenters. It was a great event

SOCIALIGHT

Child Welfare social workers courageously step into difficult situations every day.

Through our Socialight program, CFK connects you to a Child Welfare social worker for the purpose of providing encouragement, support, and courage to continue interceding for vulnerable children in our city.

Being a socialight has allowed our family to be able to tangibly pour into a social worker who continuously pours out into our Charlotte foster care community. To stand along side someone and say to them: I see you, I thank you, I support you, and I champion your cause...makes me feel connected to the kingdom work that is being done.
— Jessica, Socialight

CAREnow

In North Carolina, 89% of children entering the foster care system do so because of neglect.

Neglect is not the result of one traumatic event. It is the product of hundreds of small, hurtful moments in a foster child's life. While meeting one need will not erase a story of neglect, it can create a moment for one child or one family to feel hope.

Our CAREnow program exists to help stabilize youth and families in the child welfare system by meeting immediate, tangible, one-time needs. View our current needs, meet one today, or sign up to be notified when new needs arise.

I currently have to feed four people with only $194 and that is enough for half a month. Christmas is coming around and we can barely afford food let alone simple gifts like clothes, shoes, hygiene products. I am very behind due to lack of not knowing what to do.”

PRAYER TEAM

We believe that prayer is part of the foundation of our work – in fact, it IS the work! We are grateful for your commitment to join us in prayer and to rejoice over all the Lord is doing through CFK.

Here is what you can expect once you join the CFK prayer team:

  1. A monthly e-mail with specific praises and prayer requests

  2. Additional e-mails when urgent prayer requests arise

  3. An invitation to meet in-person to pray on a quarterly basis

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.
